The answer to the question posed in the report's title can be found in a special report prepared by the Energy Club, the Faculty of Management at the University of Warsaw and the Institute of Power Engineering.
In the report entitled What is the demand for hydrogen? we demonstrate the demand declared by industries such as power and heating, but also metallurgy and transport. This is the first study in Poland to show the economy’s demand for hydrogen fuel in such a comprehensive way.
Content of the Report:
The report contains a forecast of demand for renewable hydrogen in Poland by 2030 as a result of regulatory and market changes. Below are the forecast areas addressed in the publication.
I. Regulatory context – summary of key regulations shaping the hydrogen market
II. Renewable hydrogen as fuel in the transport sector
III. Renewable hydrogen in the various industries
- chemical industry – production of low-carbon ammonia, e-methanol and other chemicals such as hydrogen peroxide, cyclohexane, etc.;
- steel industry – low-carbon steel production;
- petrochemical industry;
other areas, including the use of hydrogen in glass production and the food industry
IV. Renewable hydrogen in the energy sector
- energy production – including the use of hydrogen as energy storage, partial replacement of natural gas with hydrogen (blending) in gas-fired units in Poland;
- district heating – cogeneration and polygeneration installations;
- electricity sector.
The report was prepared by the Faculty of Management of the University of Warsaw together with the Institute of Power Engineering and the Energy Club.
